  • I spent a couple minutes searching and i cant find anything about that. That would be some pretty cool lore and go a ways to explain why humans are compatable with so many species. I did find some sources that state that humans were their preferred slaves, and that they massively helped humanity by taking their slaves all across the galaxy during a time when the infinite empire was the only group to have hyperdrive tech. Humans were working to colonise their solar system and the surrounding areas when we got conquered by the rakatans. It is worth noting that coruscant is the cannonical home world of humans in star wars, which means the rakatans at one point conquered coruscant. It’s also worth noting that “Earth” does exist in legends lore, han solo goes to Earth and i think he fights dinosaurs, i cant remember.

  • I believe the general sterility was related to dark side degredation. They really just got brutally fucked by abusing the dark side as an entire culture and species. Which like, fuck them, they’re evil, but damn they really shot themselves in the foot.

As for gathering genetic data from the lesser races, I do not recall. They wanted to wipe out all other races afair so i dont see why they would want to keep their dna around, and from the rakatans i remember, their race would rather die than intentionally infuse themselves with the lesser races dna. They did conquer huge swaths of the galaxy and kept most everything theyd find as slaves, but those were viewed as highly expendable, not even worth treating decently enough that they survive the year.

Edit: yeah i went ahead and read the entire forum page for them, no mention of harvesting dna. It does mention that the cause of their collapse was dark side degredation though so ngl kinda proud i remembered that. That page is missing a ton of info on the rakatans though, so you could very well be correct and that page simply doesnt mention it.

  • It was also because they abused the dark side to power their tech, but dark tech has an effect on living beings. As a result of being around their dark tech for so long, it made them a more brutal, savage race than they already were. That culminated in them creating a supervirus with the intention of unleashing it upon everything that wasnt rakatan. But their slave races got wind of the virus, stole a sample, and altered it. Now, it only effects the rakatans and cuts them off from the force. I dont remember much of kotor 2 but i’d have to imagine kreia had some pretty interesting things to state on the matter considering the similarities between kreia’s goals and their goals.

  • I am curious and like to think I’m humorous. I have a lot of issues, but I do my best to only allow my issues to effect those that have asked for it(in a literal sense, like my friends asking me how im doing when im dealing with issues). As a result of my curiosity I have attained a very wide set of experiances, knowledge, and skills. My remaining goals are family oriented, in the sense that I’d like to begin the process of settling down and working on team based goals.

Edit: i guess this info may be cheating, but it worth noting that the order of my sentencing is as important as the content itself.

  • But this is one case where we know its possible to create those sorts of ais, because its effectively what nature does with the huamn mind. It might be entirely possible that true ai is a biology exclusive issue. Or, as is much more likely, it can be replicated through circuitry.

Tangentially related, how do you define thinking and reasoning? I would argue it cannot think however it can currently reason fairly well, even if that reasoning is flawed due to hallucinations. It has issues that i dont want to downplay, but i havent seen any reason to suggest that modern ai has any issues reasoning when all factors are controlled (not using a censored model, enough token memory, not hallucinating, etc)

  • Im not quite who you guys are talking about, but im pretty close. I dont have any issues with people talking about how poor current AI is, but it seems pointless. Its like pointing out that a toddler is bad at spelling. My issue comes in when people say that AI will always be useless. Even now its not useless. And top commentor did already point out the key detail: this is as bad as it will ever be.

There is nothing stopping AI from becoming better at everything you can do than you are. Everything until then is just accoimating us to that world. Ai isnt going to be the next big thing, its going to be the only big thing ever. It will literally be more impactful on this galaxy than all of humanity excluding the creation of AI.

  • In C#, when programming save/load in video games, it can be super tedious. I am self taught and i didnt have the best resources, so the only way i could find to ensure its saving the correct variables was to manually input every single variable into a text file. I dont care if its plaintext, if people want to edit their save then more power to them. The issue is that there are potentially tens of hundreds of different variables that need to be saved for the gamestate to be accurately recreated.

So its really nice that i can just copy/paste my classes into gpt and give it the syntax for a single variable to be saved, then have it do the rest. I do have to browse through and ensure its actually getting all the variables, but it turns a potentially mindnumbing 4 hour long process into maybe a 20 minute one thats relatively engaging.

Also if you know a better way lmk. I read that you can simply hash the object into a text file and then unhash it, but afaik unhashing something is next to impossible and i could never figure it out anyways.

  • In addition to this, the current state of AI is basically just advanced algorithms. Id would be extremely difficult, but in theory you could still trace the connections between bodes and run the optimization calculations yourself.

Soon enough, we will have AGI. Im not a big fan of LLMs, because theyre a fundamentally flawed idea. The only way to get that much data is without consent, and they will always be prone to hallucinations. AGI on the other hand is fundamentally different. It’s capable of learning just like a human, and capable of doing tasks just like a human. By all measurements it will be able to do anything a human can do, and by most measurements, it will do it better.

The issue most people have is that they do not understand that the current state of AI is like the OG printing press. It’s crazy to a layperson, and it has its uses, but since most everyone is illiterate farmers, its not that useful. But to claim that transcribing text is pointless is ignoring an entire world of possibilites, to the point where people who rail against AI almost seem malicious or willfully ignorant. Why do you not want us to be able to almost instantly diagnose new diseases? Or have a nursebot babysitter that is literally a better parent than you are, and doesnt have to sleep or eat? Whats the issue with making cars safer, making construction more efficient, and taking corruption out of the government? Why do people hate the idea of people no longer having to be alone, or having a therapist that is available at all times, perfectly tailored to help you with your specific issues and no biases?

Yes, these things are impossible with modern AI. But to claim that AI is useless… It’s either malice or ignorance.
